Climbing in Mallos of Riglos

The Riglos Synclines are widely known by all amateur climbers. There is no doubt that this place is ideal for climbing because of its vertical conglomerate walls over 300 metres high, whose main feature are the “boulders” or the rolling stones.

The different sections for climbing in Riglos are: the Firé, the Summer Circus, the Pisón, the Puro, the Macizo de Pisón, the Volaos, the Knife, the Melchor Frechín, the Cap, the small synclines and the Riglos Boulders. There are some 200 paths between 200 and 300 metres, except the bordering paths and the small synclines which are barely over 100 m. The access to the climbing area in any of these sections is the village of Riglos.

Take advice from professionals to enjoy this activity and contact active tourism companies in the region.

Ruaba Crag Iron Pathway

Near Murillo de Gállego

ACCESS: From Murillo you will have access to the southern and western iron paths.  Take the turn-off towards Agüero and keep on this road for two kilometres, where you turn off to the right.  Continue on the earth track for a kilometre and a half.  Then turn off to the right.  After crossing the gorge, a few metres on, leave your car.  From there, there are 20 minutes on foot on a sign-boarded path which will take you to the wall.

ITINERARY: Once at the foot of the Ruaba Crag, for the southern iron path, take a path off to the right sign-boarded with red and yellow triangles as far as the first section of chains. For the western iron pathway, the access is more complicated. You turn off to the left passing under the big ceiling of the Calva Cave and reaching the slope on the other side of the gorge. Cross over the Varella Portillo pass on the lower part and, with the spur and crest gap in view, walk towards a large stone quarry until you come to the first clamps and chains.
