Erés

Part of the municipality of Biscarrués, Erés is located on a plain on the banks of the Gállego River.

Its simple hamlet is home to the Parish Church of San Jorge, the village’s patron saint, who is honored during the annual festival on April 23rd.

Erés

Erés is also a stop along several trails that wind throughout the region: the trail that leads from the village to the iron bridge in Santa Eulalia de Gállego, where visitors can discover a beautiful riverbank forest; as well as the trail that connects this village with Concilio, along which visitors can enjoy the biodiversity of the Gállego river valley.

Piedramorrera

The hamlet of Piedramorrera sits on top of a low hill.

This quaint village is home to the Church of San Babil and several traditional houses.

Piedramorrera is 36 km from the capital, Huesca, and belongs to the municipality of Biscarrués.

Piedramorrera3

A point of interest is the village’s former train station, now abandoned and part of the province’s industrial heritage.

Piedramorrerea celebrates its annual festival on January 24th to honor its patron saint, St. Babylas.

Biscarrués

A short distance from Ayerbe, in the Gállego valley, is the charming village of Biscarrués.

The village is divided into two different parts. The profile of the Church of La Asunción dominates the upper part, the church tower the only remaining trace of the original 12th-century building. It appears suddenly from among the surround buildings with its imposing Late Baroque door and perimeter.

Biscarrués3

The lower part of the hamlet opens onto the square, with its fountain and boundary crosses, and features large façades of one or two story houses with solid masonry, and in some cases, carved details and embellishments.

Its Momumento de Semana Santa is worth a visit: the 22 canvases in this “Holy Week Monument” is one of the province’s best-preserved vestiges of 18th-century folk art.

Another point of interest are the surrounding trails, simple, marked, and suitable for all visitors: trail to the Roman tombs, trail to the Soto del Gállego river, the “Sentidos” trail (along the river, from Erés to the bridge in Santa Eulalia de Gállego ), and the mountain-biking trail that leads to the Castille de Artasona in a circular loop.

Biscarrués celebrates its minor festival on January 20th with the bonfires in honor of St. Sebastian, and its major festival on August 15th, in honor of its patron saint, Our Lady of Assumption.
