Located in one of the most spectacular spots in Hoya de Huesca, the village of Riglos is home to unparalleled natural beauty guaranteed to delight visitors.
A visit to Riglos means to stand in awe of the immense rocks that shelter it. The streets are quite steep, taking full advantage of the terrain at the foot of the rock formations (mallos) to which the village owes its fame and beauty.
Riglos is home to several significant buildings: at the entrance of the village is the small Romanesque Chapel of San Martín (12th century), a simple single-nave building with corbels featuring vibrant carvings. Higher up, practically at the base of the mallos, is the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Mallo, where two Romanesque sculptures of the Virgin Mary are venerated: the Virgen del Mallo and La Carcavilla.
The entire village is crowned by the magnitude and imposing presence of the mallos, aggregate rock formations that formed over millions of years to create the shapes that visitors, nature and outdoor lovers, and climbers enjoy today.
These mallos are also home to one of the largest colonies of griffon vultures in Europe, making it a can’t-miss spot for bird-watchers. The ARCAZ Interpretation Center, specialized in educating people about the area’s rich natural heritage.
